CourseworkerXML can be licensed for use by individual course developers, production teams or across the enterprise. Since each makes quite different use of the CourseworkerXML service, it is therefore priced individually accordingly to the actual solution and support required. Other aspects of the licensed use of the service are covered under a separate service level agreement. Initial and ongoing setupCourseworkerXML has to be costed for setup first as identified during the “Getting Started” process. Initial setup can involve only a day or two of work, particularly if the decision is to use the default course components and output styles that CourseworkerXML provides to start with. Some setups involve tens of thousands of pounds and involve multiple custom programmes, styles, course components and workflows. CAPDM will work out a fixed price setup to suit your business need and budget. Once the initial setup is complete, CourseworkerXML may have to be modified to accommodate your evolving production needs. These ongoing setups are usually extensions to the initial setup, when new course components are added or more complex information types are rendered. These are all priced by CAPDM individually and usually at the hourly developer rate required to implement them. Sometimes completely new setups of style are required for re-branding or for new platform adoptions. These are usually quicker to achieve and less costly that the initial one, as the content and new output requirements are usually better understood. Monthly usage licenseCourseworkerXML is best deployed at the start of the development of a new programme, when it can be setup to produce course materials to an exact programme style and specification. Once this is done, it can be extended to produce hundreds of courses and course components, all using XML. An initial implementation of CourseworkerXML for an enterprise costs about the same as hiring one eLearning developer for one year. For this sum, you will get the first course developed with you by CAPDM. This forms the ideal training experience for learning how to single source publish efficiently with CourseworkerXML. Typically, a fixed monthly license fee based on your level of usage is applied and billed monthly in arrears. This is calculated from the number of courses you wish to continuously produce and maintain, and the number of course developers you have. Volume discounts are given, and large volume licensors can ultimately cap the monthly license at a fixed fee. The use of the CourseworkerXML production environment is restricted to your employees, based in their places of work, home or study. No other third party developers will be entitled to access and use the environment without prior agreement with CAPDM in writing or email. Such additional use by third parties may be subject to an additional support or license fee. Ongoing support servicesShould you require CAPDM to extend the CourseworkerXML service to accommodate your new XML document type definitions, products or new output formats, the development support services to do this are priced at our standard engineering day rate. Some CourseworkerXML customers choose to share the use of the CourseworkerXML production environment with CAPDM production staff, who undertake some parts of the workflow for them. These production support services are usually volume related and are priced according to our menu of services. This might include drawing graphics; creating the initial XML masters; producing flash or video elements etc. TrainingCourseworkerXML uses the DocBook XML standard for the core of its initial production a capabilities. DocBook is a well known and documented open international standard, and a number of XML tools vendors support it and provide training for it. CAPDM can price and develop custom onsite training programmes for organisations wishing to speed up their initial uptake of XML and CourseworkerXML. |
